Open Paths. Shared Summits.
A place shaped by weather, time, and the steady footsteps of those who return to it again and again.
Friends of Ben Rinnes exists to care for that experience.
We maintain the main path to the summit, protect the fragile upland environment, and support responsible access so that the hill can be enjoyed now and long into the future.
This work is simple in principle.
It is not simple in practice.
It relies on people.
What We Do
- Maintain and repair the main summit path.
- Reduce erosion and protect the surrounding landscape.
- Support safe, responsible access to the hill.
- Work alongside estates, contractors, and local partners.
- Coordinate volunteers and seasonal maintenance work.
This is ongoing, physical work. Volunteer days run throughout the year, in suitable weather conditions.
Why it Matters
Without intervention, paths erode.
Water cuts channels.
Walkers create new routes.
The landscape begins to degrade.
Everything we do is about holding that line.
